Thaukyegat (2) Hydropower Projecthas been implemented by Gold Energy Company Limited, the first private company that involves in the development momentum of Hydropower Project in the Union of Myanmar.
In year 2014, Gold Energy Company Limited has already got ASEAN Outstanding Engineering Achievement Award for Thaukyegat (2) Hydropower Project.
The Thaukyegat (2) Hydropower Project, approximately 21km east of Taungoo is located on Thaukyegatriver, one of the tributaries of Sittaung River. In December 2007, Kansai Electric Power Co., Inc. submitted the Basic Design Report on Thaukyegat Hydropower Project. In February 2007, Changjiang Institute of Survey, Planning, Design and Research (CISPDR) participated in Consultancy Services for this project and after the Basic Design was thoroughly reviewed, CISPDR submitted the Definite Design Report on August 2008.
